Muse is back in Seattle in April!

And I am there. Anyone care to join me? In addition to Muse (which honestly, is enough all by itself), Silversun Pickups are (is? any grammar Nazis out there?) also performing!! I am so excited, it's ridiculous. :D

Metric Set List from Deck the Hall Ball 2009

I love Metric. After their set last night, I realized that I really only love their latest album.  They opened with Dead Disco from their Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? album (which I confess I did not know until I looked it up) and I wasn't really a fan of the live version.  I kinda like the recording though.

Anyway, here's the set list from last night:

Dead Disco
Gimme Sympathy
Gold Guns Girls
Sick Muse
Help! I'm Alive
Stadium Love
Loved Help! I'm Alive and Gold Guns Girls...wish they'd played Twilight Galaxy (my fave Metric song aside from Help!... but I understand why they didn't. It doesn't really fit in with the rock concert hyper-energetic vibe).

Muse Set List from Deck the Hall Ball 2009

As you may have guessed from my previous post, I had a great time at DTHB 2009 last night! Muse was just out of this world...I totally understand (and concur) why they are hailed as the best band to play live. They rocked my socks!

In any case, I didn't recognize all the songs they played and fortunately after a little internet searching (Bing, you lost to Google in this search), I randomly found a post on supershippy's LJ that had the set list info.

I'm re-posting it, but you can check out the original post here.

MK Ultra
Interlude
Hysteria
Resistance
Supermassive Black Hole
Unnatural Selection
United States of Eurasia (w/o Collateral Damage)
Uprising
Starlight
Time Is Running Out
Plug In Baby
Knights of Cydondia

My frantic searching this morning was prompted by the second (technically 4th listed above) song I'd heard last night...I can't believe I didn't know it, but it was complete awesome-sauce and I needed to find it.  I'm definitely going to pick up The Resistance ASAP.  [Aside: after looking it up on iTunes, I'm not actually sure that was the song I fell in love with...I might have mis-remembered the order, but I'm looking into it... Quick update: Resistance is indeed the song that is complete awesome-sauce, iTunes just sampled a part of it I didn't recognize. Listening now, with a big smile on my face. :D]

Live! From Deck the Hall Ball...

I'm waiting for 30 Seconds to Mars to come on and contemplating the awesomeness that was Metric amidst the ringing in my ears. I liked their set, but I think overall the volume is a little loud (and no, I'm not getting old, thank you very much!). I realized that I'm only really a fan of Metric's latest album, Fantasies, and along with Help! I'm Alive, I thought Gold, Guns, Girls was fantastic! Nice job Metric!

Now I just have to sit through 30 Seconds and then it's Muse... Woohoo!!

[Addendum, posted on 12/16/2009 at 11:15AM:

So I had no idea that Jared Leto was the lead singer of 30 Seconds to Mars. I was shocked to find that out. I was also shocked (though I probably shouldn't have been) to discover that he's kind of a douche. He was all "this is the most fucking psycho crowd we've ever played for....you guys are fucking crazy" blah, blah, blah. Because saying "fuck" every 6th word makes you super-cool. Douche. Sigh.  Anyway, I do love the song Kings and Queens, and hearing them perform it was awesome. Regardless of the douche-status, Jared Leto is still hot...I miss My So-Called Life.  Ok, I'm done now.]

Just 19 hours to go!

Eeee! I'm so excited! You might be wondering, "why is she so excited?" (or at least if anyone was reading this, they might be wondering that).

Well, I'm excited because tomorrow is Deck The Hall Ball 2009! It's hosted by Seattle's alternative radio station, 107.7 The End and two of my favorite bands, Muse and Metric, are on the playbill!!

I fell in love with Muse after I fell in love with Twilight actually. :) Since Stephenie Meyer loved Muse so much, I was curious and then after the fantastically awesome "Supermassive Black Hole" was featured during the epic baseball scene in the movie, I was hooked.

Metric is a Canadian band (woot, Canada!) that I stumbled across via The End this summer when I first heard "Help! I'm Alive" on the radio.  It absolutely drew me in and my life hasn't been the same since.  I would be totally thrilled to see either one of these bands live, but to see them both together?! It's a girl's dream come true. *cue girly sigh*

If you have been living in a hole (or have some other plausible reason for why you don't know these bands), check out Supermassive Black Hole by Muse here and Help! I'm Alive by Metric here.

Yummy! This is what I like to wake up to...

Courtesy of one of the lovely Twitter peeps I follow, I was treated to quite the eye candy in the form of a fan video about Robert Pattinson. According to the YouTube video, it is one of four such videos containing "pure, unadulterated, sexy bliss".

Enjoy!

Playing around

I've been trying to customize my new blog, see if I can find some nifty templates, and I've managed to find a great site that offers tons of beautiful templates for Blogger, and best of all they're free!

Only problem is that it's been about 4 years since I've played with HTML and yiiiiikes...it's tougher than I remember!  Guess that's what happens when you're not a teenager anymore. :P

Placeholder for now

This is a placeholder post at the moment...we shall see if/when it becomes something of substance.
